When God does the Astonishing

UntitledGod does that sometimes. Does the very thing you never imagined would happen. Astonishing. Times I could only look up and say thank you because what transpired could only be from Him.

I’ve had moments when I’ve been surprised by God…times when what I planned was not what He planned and my course was changed. But truly astonishing, take my breath away, full of awe and wonder moments, with the added surprise element don’t happen to me everyday. And yet, I know they’ve happened. Probably more often than I can count.

Old and New Testament moments. Like when the ram appeared when Abraham had Isaac tied to the altar. His only, longed for son, on the execution seat right before him and the ram appears.

Fishes and loaves type of astonishing moments. Like when the disciples felt doubtful at Jesus’ ability to feed thousands. And then, before their very eyes, the bread just kept on giving.

Because the BREAD always keeps on giving.

Astonishing moments, miracle moments, when our eyes can only look up and our heads can only shake in disbelief. Things unasked for. Things beyond our wildest imagination.

Things that are truly astonishing.

Like what the Lord did for us.

Astonishing.

We are having another baby, Lord willing, at the end of September.

Nothing could have prepared us for this. Nothing. This was the ultimate astonishing moment. Something we didn’t dare to dream, we didn’t dare to ask for, we didn’t dare to count on.

We’ve been given abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine.

Bread and fishes kind of astonishing.

Because the BREAD always keeps on giving.

ps…due date is September 30th, 2014. I am currently 10 weeks along and we’ve seen this cutie via ultrasound. Pray with us that this tiny miracle will be sustained and live.

{I’m happy to answer most questions so if you have one feel free to ask.}

  1. So here's my question - how long after this post did you find out? :) http://comeabide.blogspot.com/2014/02/babies-infertility-and-thoughts-on-more.html

  8. Praise the LORD!! I apologize on my late response. I wanted to post a BIG comment and thats always much easier on my computer... although I use my phone 95% of the time:) Anyways here are my rambling thoughts:
1 - So, SO excited for you dear friend! How incredible that when you were asking those questions and questioning and wondering, even then (if I did my math right) God was creating life in you. He is so good!
2 - God is good and does good... regardless of the status of your womb - women like us know this full well! And I love and am so humbled with you last sentence asking for prayer that this tiny miracle will be sustained and live. Infertility and miscarriages forever changes you and one thing it changes is the constant reminder that life and babies cannot be taken for granted. Not a single friend who has not gone through this journey ever asks to pray their baby would live. That was what I always prayed when I was praying to get pregnant (that I would get pregnant and he would sustain and keep the baby alive), that I pray for friends now, and that I continue to pray that God would sustain my children and my husband and our family. It's just humbling when you've had life taken how much grace you know He gives in continuing to give it.
3 - And with #1 - I am SO excited He had you wait to find out until you had posted your first blog post! It was so good and I am always wanting to hear more Jesus loving women waiting on the Lord in parts of their lives, especially with children.

Really so excited for you. Totally insane. Will be praying God would sustain you and your sweet little one who grows inside you. Congratulations. So glad our questions aren't too big for a big God:)

  9. Also I have to say - when I read the title I thought to myself "If she's not pregnant I am going to be SUPER disappointed!" and wanted to jump to the end to find out immediately! But I was a good girl and read it like I was supposed to:)

  10. Congratulations on your second pregnancy! I have been following your blog for almost two years now. I found your blog when I was looking up blogs on infertility. Since following you, the Lord has blessed my husband and I with a baby girl (September 2013), and I am actually pregnant again with a little boy! God has been so good. Thank you for all your encouraging posts!
